The Country Manager role is to implement the strategy and vision of the business, exploring opportunities and communicating what needs to be achieved to effectively move forward. To lead and inspire the teams to achieve sales targets, promote high levels of service to customers and run efficient, well organised territories within set budgets. To be accountable for driving the business forward and be an inspirational ambassador of Ted who understands and promotes the company “Mission Statement” and “Vision”.
Roles and responsibilities
•Confident leadership to inspire and empower management and teams to achieve excellence.
•Define and communicate clear strategic company, territory and location objectives.
•Ensure the team in each location maximises sales potential by the effective use of all resources, team motivation and inspirational leadership.
•Work with integrity and respect for others; create excellent team collaboration and ensure the managers, team and locations are presented to the highest standards in line with brand expectations
•Take ownership of your personal learning to enhance your development and the development of others.
•Be accountable for the consistent achievement of training and standards across your area. Sample all company trainings to ensure the managers are keeping their teams up to date and knowledgeable.
•Coaching, developing and appraising Managers setting clear objectives for performance and development. Use a flexible but consistent approach to differing people and situations to bring out the best in all and ensure that the managers are following the same with their teams.
•Identify, manage and document underperformance of Managers, sharing these matters with the Deputy Head of European Retail/Head of European Retail and Coach Station.
•Display high levels of personal motivation and ensure effective incentives are used to inspire and drive the teams.
•Maintain a strong understanding of your area teams. Work with the Managers and company tools to deliver an effective recruitment on-boarding and induction experience. Implement a robust succession plan, proactively networking to build dynamic teams with a mix of talent to support business growth.
•Accountable for the on-boarding and development of new team member and new to a management position in your area to ensure talent is being nurtured for the ongoing development of the location, territory and business in general. Accountable to ensure overall management and team motivation through effective training, development and incentives.
•Host relevant territory and team meetings to communicate strategy/vision & business plans
•Develop strategic partnerships with all levels of the business and maintain productive relations with Host stores. Create ownership of commitment to common goals through collaboration.
•Develop a management network within your territories to share knowledge, talent and to grow and develop understanding of how each location can work together to deliver contribution from your area.
•Manage and develop support team within territory including Area Support, visual merchandiser and Operations
support (where applicable) deliver appraisal and action plans to support individual and area growth
•Partner with relevant UBB departments to encourage focus within territory and educate on the
business through delivering seasonal tours, periodic feedback and quarterly meetings.
•Pro-active recruitment and risk management of vacancies within territory through
effective scouting, network building and talent pool creation.
•Ensure all locations are presented to the highest possible standards and all product directives and guidelines are followed through.
•Ensure the teams are using all available tools to keep up to date on current season product and trends.
•Be knowledgeable of product mix holding and performance in each location and feedback regularly to all product managers on risks and opportunities to influence positive action.
•Work with managers and AVM’s to analyse their product data to coach and educate them to drive commerciality, maximise sales and increase customer loyalty.
•Customer profile analysis of territory ensuring regional and variable influences are communicated and considered with B&M to build location appropriate packages.
•Demonstrate market analysis as well as competitor activity & performance understanding. Feedback on product and areas of opportunity to business.
•Ensure an exemplary customer experience is created by all location teams displaying the expectations of on boarding and training and, sales and commercial skills.
•Understand location and territory customer profiles in order to influence marketing strategies.
•Retain an exceptional commercial awareness and analytical consideration of location/area KPI’s, performance and factors affecting trade.
•Have a competent knowledge of local markets. Develop a network of local contacts in each market to understand and develop business opportunities.
•Demonstrate initiative and an innovative approach to decision making. Embrace new ideas and take calculated risks to enhance business performance and promote change.
•Be proactive and strategic in planning and documenting location visits balancing the needs of the business, team and location and offering inspirational leadership.
•Driving the locations’ to achieve performance targets and KPIs.
•Be in control of set budgets and ensure Managers are effectively managing the controllable elements of the locations’ profit and loss.
•Instigate and support marketing opportunities within brand guidelines, and drive success of all brand promotions.
•Drive Managers feedback and analytical interpretation of their location commercial reports to maintain a high level of understanding of the area and identify opportunities to positively affect location and area performance.
•Instigate and deliver regular trade meetings with brand partners in the territory.
•Investigate and feedback on retail expansion opportunities within territory including; space offers from brand partners, retail property overviews of cities & territory document updates.
•Drive revenue stream opportunities within territory for Wholesale, License & Ecomm departments with market awareness and supply of partner potential.
•Deliver market specific feedback & analysis of commercial/promotional plan to ensure local variants are considered for sale, promotions and stock planning strategy.
•Be highly organised and ensure management adhere to all store administration, systems and processes within operational guidelines.
•Ensure each location manages costs and the area fulfills expectations on Profit and Loss.
•Protect the assets of the business by;
oEnsuring each location meets the required company standard and legal compliance in Health & Safety and maintenance. Sample regularly and take any corrective action.
