The general purpose is to be a financial partner and consultant to the respective business partner in Global Sales Team - Retail by giving recommendation to enable and drive fact-based decision-making. This position supports the business to achieve (financial) targets as well as the strategy based on the analysis of financial indicators. This is supported by the creation of transparency on business performance.
Together as Brand and Sales finance organization we provide our commercial business partner with one shared view for strategic and financial decision making. Within Global Sales with the role of Converting Brand Desire into profitable and sustainable business growth by flawlessly executing our Global Brands and Sales strategies, we will support the enforcer team for Retail, eCom & Franchise in their Objective "... to accelerate growth through best branded shopping experience at all consumer touchpoints"
Key Responsibilities:
Business Partnering
- Co-pilots the Global Retail Sales team in executing the selling and finance strategy and projects (e.g. portfolio management, Financial blueprint, yearly priority projects)
- Drive deep-dives to advise senior management about opportunities and risks in reaching commercial ambitions within Retail business
- Act as a facilitator between Global Sales Finance, Business Partners and Markets key counterparts in Finance to support market needs
- Act as a central contact point for all Retail finance related topics
- Drive market target setting process for Retail based on in-depth understanding of market business model, results and P&L drivers (both short term and long-term outlook)
- Lead medium- to large sized projects in partnership with Global Sales team, implement findings and ensure sustainability of achievements
Reporting, Analysis & Expertise:
- Lead the financial control and performance of worldwide Retail channel activities of adidas consistently with Global Sales Strategy embedded in CTN and to conduct the overall goal of finance aspiration for 2025 related to these channels
- Create transparency in business performance and profitability which can be used for analysis and fact-based decision making, covering Retail KPIs and store P&L.
- Identify opportunities and risks through analysis of the key performance indicators, derive solutions and facilitate related decisions
- Drive and ensure solid reporting set up for existing as well as new markets (incl. systems, reporting requirements, target setting etc.), ensuring legalities and confidentiality requirements in collecting and sharing 3rdd party data are met
- Ensure that standardized reporting and ad hoc analysis is available in cooperation with the global Brand and Sales finance team
- Develop and implement adequate communication packages to present derived results and recommendations
- Ensure Retail Finance is in compliance with all applicable group policies and local laws
Innovation & Strategy:
- Contribute to the achievement of the Retail and global Brand and Sales strategy
- Drive change by supporting strategic projects related to Global Retail Business and Finance Strategy
- Define and ensure sustainable implementation of an innovative KPI framework (e.g. financial/non-financial KPIs, sales key drivers, cost ratios, etc.)
- Drive continuous improvement of entire processes/systems and ensure that they are followed
- Go after efficiency and simplification in analysis, reporting and communication. Less is more
- Look continuously for synergy with other finance colleagues (e.g. Wholesale and Digital) in analysis and reporting
- Promote and implement benchmarking and best practice sharing between Retail, Franchise and Wholesale

- Deep Retail business understanding combined with excellent finance and analytical skills
- High degree of customer orientation and Business Acumen in partner business. The ability to see the customer's point of view and to bring opinions of his/her own
- Thorough understanding of the complexity, interactions and dynamics of an international company
- Ability to manoeuvre in consistently changing and fast-pacing environment
- Ability to operate cross-functionally (strategy, sales, brand) and understanding of external business drivers.
- Strength in conceptualization and frame-working
- High level of experience in Project Management
- Excellent communication skills for persuasion and convincing others
- Strong result orientation and pro-activity -hands on approach
- Ability to coach, guide, manage, and develop a small team
- Ability to think and act strategically and translate strategy into operational plans
- Excellent finance skills and solid skills in building effective simulations
- Excellent knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint; analytical skills, managing large data quantities from multiple sources
- Business fluency in English (written and spoken)
Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
- University degree in Business Administration/Finance/ Controlling
- Finance controller experience for Market Retail or Franchise channel preferred
- Industry: ideally in apparel/fashion/shoes or FMCG
- Familiarity with SAP and BI or other ERP/reporting software preferred
- 5+ years working experience
- Leadership experience preferred
