The Role and The Team

Zalando Payments GmbH (ZPS) builds the technologies for all financial transactions in the Zalando Fashion Store and our other consumer-facing apps. We strive to deliver a flawless user experience in the checkout, as well as the processing of payments and reconciliation in the backend. Through smart risk steering, we boost conversion and deliver a competitive advantage to our customers and partners (merchants). As the Head of Product Customer Solutions at Zalando Payments GmbH, your role centers around leading and shaping our customer-facing payment products. You are managing a cross-functional team of product, business, and analytics leads dedicated to building the most convenient and preferred payment products for European lifestyle customers shopping on Zalando. You will be responsible for managing and improving our diverse payment method portfolio, improving existing internal and external payment products as well as integrating or designing new payment products based on local customer needs and in close collaboration with the Zalando Platform and Markets Teams. This role requires a visionary leader and expert in Payments/Fintech to drive the product strategy and vision in line with Zalando Group goals and ensure the most seamless integration of payment processes, enhancing the overall customer experience.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Strategy Development: Develop a comprehensive product strategy & vision (2-3 years) aligned with our business goals and objectives. Identify opportunities to improve our existing payment products with the goal of increasing conversion rates and driving customer retention and lifetime value.
  • Product Roadmap: Enable your team to create and maintain a product roadmap that outlines the prioritized features, enhancements, and initiatives for the respective product area.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements, conduct market research, and define product specifications.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Zalando Platform and local Market teams to understand their needs and requirements related to Payment products and services.
  • Collaborate effectively to ensure alignment, obtain buy-in, and drive successful implementation of product initiatives. Engage with product leads from various departments within the organization, influencing their roadmaps to achieve collective success.
  • Product Development: Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from discovery to Execution, including defining problems, sizing the opportunity, Identifying the best solution, coordinating product design and development efforts, supporting user testing, and ensuring successful product delivery. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for all payment processes.
  • Performance Analysis : Use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement, drive product optimizations, and report on the effectiveness of implemented strategies. Analyze market trends and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product improvements and new features.
  • Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing cross-functional team of product, business and analytic leads, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Set the overall vision and direction for the domain while enabling them to develop and grow in their roles.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate updates, progress, and outcomes to key stakeholders, including executives from Zalando Group and Zalando Payments, department heads, and cross-functional teams. Present findings, recommendations, and business cases to gain support and secure necessary resources for product initiatives. Manage external payment partners and lead negotiations and contract alignments.

  • We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in product management, particularly in developing customer-centric payment solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring our payment systems are robust, user-friendly, and scalable.
  • - You have a proven track record in leading product teams and managing end-to-end product life cycles for finance or payment solution, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in the domain of Payments or Fintech
  • - You are a natural problem-solver, with a strong history of leading product discovery, solving meaningful customer and business problems, and delivering scalable solutions.
  • - You have experience working in complex technology environments and defining technical platform requirements. You possess strong knowledge of payment processing, gateways, and fintech trends.
  • You have the ability to create a strong product vision and translate that vision for any audience, through well-crafted strategic documents, thorough requirements, and clear communication with stakeholders.
  • - You are an analytical mind, with the expertise to evaluate data, and draw insights to make informed product decisions by defining success criteria and measuring the impact of the product. You excel in gathering and analyzing customer insights to drive product innovation and improvements.
  • - You are an expert in Payments industry trends and developments and are experienced working with Payment partners and service providers in Europe. You have a good basic understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements in the payments industry.
